About Me

Hello – Welcome to my website! My LinkedIn profile will tell you all the places I’ve worked, my roles, and what I accomplished. But, here I’ll share a little bit about myself and background on a more personal level.

I am a California native, born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley to Giro and Patricia La Bella. My parents owned a wig shop called La Bella Wigs on the corner of New Ave. and Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel. My mom later opened Patty’s Arts & Crafts in Covina. They both had entrepreneurial spirits. Too bad they didn’t know how to market their businesses (if only I was a little older!). I have one younger brother who is a retired police officer, and now spends his time with his wife Gina relaxing by the pool in Lake Havasu.

As a kid, I loved to write stories and poems (still do!). I was also an avid sports fan (still am!) and since my dad was from Boston, I was born into the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots culture (these were the days when the Red Sox were cursed and the Pats were a laughing stock – at least we had the Celtics!).

Other than my sports teams, I’ve always been a typical California kid, spending every possible minute at the beach or pool, skateboarding, and playing sports (and you guessed it – I still do!).

After high school, I decided to join the military – that turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. It was there that I learned computer graphics, printing, and marketing. I’ve spent my career building on the tools that I was given in the Army and still use them today.

Marketing copywriting was my dream job and I’ve done it at the highest level. The most fun I ever had was working for Cat Fancy magazine as their sole marketing copywriter focused on both B2B and B2C targets. I’ve since taken my skills and applied them as a Marketing Manager, Creative Director, and Marketing Lead. The only thing I love more than the Red Sox, is Marketing!

In 1999, when the Women’s World Cup came to the Rose Bowl, I sat in the top row of the stadium as the US Women beat the Chinese National Team to win the tournament. It was then, that I started following the USWNT and began covering them for an online publication called Examiner.com (sadly, they’ve since folded, along with all my articles).

Covering the women’s game inspired me to create Women’s World Football Show in 2013. It has become the longest-running international women’s soccer podcast in the world, with a world-wide audience, and a few awards to its name. I’m super proud of this little podcast and the hundreds of prominent guests we’ve interviewed over the years.

I currently reside in Orange County, CA with my partner of 22 years, our multi-poo Max, our ornery pekingese Luca, and our adult daughter (UCLA graduate and super kind person) who loves us so much, she probably will never leave.

Thanks again for taking the time to get to know me. I look forwarding to hearing from you and getting to know more about you as well. Feel free to email me at plabella@me.com, or for marketing consulting at patty@roguelabmarketing.com.
